Can you believe it? A Minneapolis Animal Shelter is officially all out of animals to adopt. All pets got adopted – every pet found its home – and all of this just in time for the holidays. YEY!

The event was a complete success

The Minneapolis Animal Care and Control center organized a “Clear the Shelter” event on Friday. This event waives the fee needed to adopt a pet. And it worked – by the end of the day, the entire shelter was completely empty!

The City of Minneapolis Government proudly posted on social media:

“The shelter is clear! Dozens of dogs, cats and small critters found new homes today. Thanks to our staff, volunteers and adopters for making it happen.”

They also posted the photo from the shelter’s door where they were informing incoming visitors that they are all out of animals to adopt!

According to the shelter, the adoptions were on a first-come, first-served basis. If multiple people were interested in adopting the same pet, a drawing was held to determine who got to be the lucky one.

“Arriving before the shelter opens does not count as being first,” they said.

We don’t have a clear idea of how many animals ended up being adopted. But, we are sure that they will be very happy in their new homes.

Adopt Don’t Shop

This shelter should also be an example for others. The staff, volunteers and adopters are what made it a success.
