The coronavirus was recently declared as a pandemic. This forced many governments to lockdown their countries, which means people are limited or entirely restricted to go outside. The lockdown is just a preventive measure to stop the coronavirus from spreading.
Now, this measure is stopping pet owners from taking a walk with their dogs. However, one man from Cyprus found a way to stay inside the house and still walk his dog outside.
Vakis Demetriou tried an experiment to see if the drone he owns would handle the job. He decided to take his dog Oliver out, walking on the street with a drone holding his leash. Then, Demetriou shared the experiment on Instagram and wrote “5th-day quarantine”.

Although it’s recommended to stay home, it’s also important to think about your pets and their happiness.
Demetriou pilots the drone from a balcony, while his friend recorded the dog and the drone on the street. Although this video is pleasant and it will make you smile, a drone can’t walk most dog breeds. If a dog gets distracted, it may pull the drone out of the air.
The average weight a hobby drone can carry is around 4.5 pounds. Even little dogs, just like a Pomeranian can weigh between 4 and 8 pounds.
This is not the first time we see a dog walked by a drone. Three years ago, a company called Drones Direct invented the product Dog Drone. The main purpose was to walk dogs using GPS data through pre-set walking paths. The product wasn’t available online and could be only bought in the showroom of Drones Direct in Huddersfield, England.
However, the staff at the animal shelter in West Yorkshire found a less dangerous way to use drones. For dogs to be more active, they used the drones as toys.
