Amidst this tense COVID-19 situation, a Californian official was seen angrily throwing his cat during a Zoom video call with his colleagues at a meeting of city planning commissioners. His colleagues were alarmed, seeing what he did. This roused tensions and led to the outcry of his colleagues
Chris Platzer had earlier addressed his colleagues via Zoom in Vallejo, California, and introduced his cat to them.
One of his colleagues said he heard Chris Platzer’s cat crying distressfully, and he saw Chris grabs on the cat’s neck and tosses her off-screen, and he couldn’t see them afterward.

Unfortunately for Chris, his colleagues discovered his cruelty towards animals almost immediately. Chris was easily suspected, as this wasn’t the only time his colleagues had seen him do things like this. He reportedly did it multiple times during Zoom calla, and he was also seen drinking and acting quite unusual.

Even amidst this pandemic tension, Chris Platzer’s colleagues were really shocked at his behavior. Chris immediately tendered his resignation and apologies days before his colleagues called for an emergency meeting. This meeting would likely have led to his ejection and termination.
Another colleague stated that his behavior does not reflect the city’s credibility. He continued, citing that if a developer was watching the meeting, what impression would he have had of the company? Surely it would have led to the company losing its name and credibility.

Chris Platzer was asked to apologize, and he wrote in an email to the newspaper. He said, “I did not engage in the Zoom meeting in a manner that befits a planning commissioner, and I apologize for whatever harm I could have caused.”

He also stated in his apology letter, “I know I no longer have the trust and backing of my colleagues or anyone, as I worked with the council and still faulted. To the many people who supported me during my tenure, where I voluntarily serve at Vallejo, requires decency and honor. It is a change for me as I’m trying to adapt to a new normal”.
Chris Platzer has now realized that hurting animals and displaying cruelty towards them is a crime.
