Dogs proved on so many occasions what they are capable of, but they never fail to surprise us. They are selfless creatures with gentle hearts and always take care of those in need.
Even though they are a man’s best friend, they can easily become everyone’s best friend. Hazel, the 3-year-old Yorkie-Chihuahua mix from Texas is no different. She has been a good girl since day one.
Hazel has been living with Monica Burks, her human mom since she was just a few weeks old. One rainy day, the adorable little dog wanted to out for a potty break. Since the weather was bad, the mom stayed home while the pup went outside.
Monica trusted Hazel and believed she would come back in time. But, things don’t always go as we think.

As time passed by, there was no sign of the dog, which made Monica really nervous. The human mom decided to go out and search for her lost dog. But, before she left her home, she saw something unusual. Hazel came back home, but she was not alone – she was with a little kitten.
When Hazel went out to pee, she noticed the abandoned kitten and decided to help. Monica said that Hazel’s maternal instincts have just kicked in.
Somehow, the 3-year-old dog convinced the little kitten to come with her. Although the kitten was confused or stopped along the way, Hazel kept turning toward her. In the end, the dog rescued the defenseless kitten and brought her to a safe place.
Monica wasn’t mad at her dog, she was actually proud. When all of them got inside, Monica rewarded Hazel for the good deed and then took care of the little kitten.
When Monica’s brother Michael heard about the kitten, he decided to adopt him and named him Sheba. What a beautiful story with a happy ending!
