Traveling and staying at hotels solo can make you feel lonely sometimes. However, a hotel located in Mississippi found the perfect way to warm their guests’ hearts. The hotel foster dogs.

There is a program called Fostering Home in the Home2 Suites by Hilton Biloxi North/D’Iberville. Thanks to this program, shelter dogs from the Humane Society of South Mississipi have been brought in the hotel’s lobby since October 2018.

While guests are staying at the hotel, they can foster the cute pets in their rooms. If some of the guests fell in love with their companions, they can even adopt them!

Thanks to this program, a lot of space at the shelter has been freed up. This program is so successful and more than 80% of the dogs have been adopted.

The Fostering Home can get the help the dogs need and increases the chances for them to be noticed and find new homes. The hotel is specialized in long-term visits, so it’s perfect for the program.

The amazing program was an idea of Teresa Johnston, the hotel’s sales director.

After Bianca Janik from the shelter, researched the hotel, she decided that it was ideal for the foster program.

Teresa wanted to set their hotel apart, so the program was the perfect opportunity to do it. This is really an out-of-the-box idea to put the animals in new homes, so the shelter was on board.

When guests decide to take home a dog from the program, they just have to fill out an application and pay the $50 adoption fee at the hotel.

Janik said that the program is very open, but they reserve the right to deny. However, people can visit the shelter another day so they can find the right dog.

So far, 33 dogs have been adopted with the program. This hotel is not just providing people with a place to stay, they also want to put unlucky dogs into loving homes.
