However, grief is a strong and sometimes overwhelming emotion and people deal with it in different ways. While some people feel like they have lost their purpose in life, others want to make changes in their lives which is what happened when a man lost his dog. After the death of his dog, he decided to adopt all senior animals, including farm animals, from a local shelter.

Steve Grieg from Colorado is an animal lover, who has always shared his home with pets. Ever since he was a child he loved dogs, and he was always surrounded by 3-4 of them. He currently lives on a large property with plenty of space for lots of animals.

However, when his beloved dog Wolfgang passed, he knew it was an end of an era. Although he was devastated, he decided to change some lives. He went to a local shelter and adopted 12-year-old Eeyore, a Chihuahua with bad knees and a heart murmur.

Steve adopted other senior animals since then and now he lives with dozens of animals. He is a proud owner of eight senior dogs, plus two other dogs, two Calico kitties, some ducks, a miniature pig called Bikini, a bunny rabbit, a few chickens, two pigeons, and a pond full of koi.

Mr. Greig has a special bond with every pet he owns. He makes them as happy and loved as they make him. According to him, saving an animal from possible death has a huge impact on both of them.

Greig’s day starts at 5.a.m. He makes breakfast for all the animals he owns. After breakfast, he takes his dogs to the park or to the vet. He also loves to cuddle with them!

He said that he loves to adopt senior dogs because they have low-energy and are well-behaved. He adds: “It’s easy to develop a relationship with a person or pet who knows who they are.”
