We usually hear stories about people adopting abandoned baby animals. But, how often do you hear that a mom cat adopted three orphaned puppies? As it appears no matter the animal, a mother’s love knows no limit.
As soon as Kathryn was found in an empty apartment, the orange kitty has been desperately searching for a family to call her own. After the new residents in the apartment found the mom cat, they immediately called Langebaan Animal Care, in South Africa, for help. However, it was too late to save the newborn babies.
Izelle Marallich, a chairperson of Langebaan Animal Care, took Kathryn in. The mom cat was sad after losing her kittens. However, that didn’t stop her to be affectionate towards her new foster family.

“She was extremely affectionate and was not scared of any of my foster dogs — she walked right up to them and rubbed herself against every one of them,” said Marallich.
Even though Kathryn was with her foster family, she still mourned her past and was looking for her babies. It must have been heartbreaking to see the cat crying.
Kathryn’s life changed when orphaned puppies came to the house. She immediately bonded with the pups — calling out to them whenever they asked for food and comforted them by licking them.
Although the puppies were confused at first, they got used to her licking. They quickly grew accustomed to Kathryn, and she eventually started nursing them. From that moment, Kathryn’s search for her babies stopped and she felt complete again.

Kathryn is a very devoted mom. She grooms her new babies, sleeps with them and feeds them whenever they need to eat.
Even though the puppies have found their forever homes, Kathryn has two new babies to look after — a pair of newborn kittens found abandoned in a field. Thanks to her, the orphaned kittens may survive.
Marallich feels incredibly lucky for finding Kathryn who is such a wonderful cat. Although a lot of people want to adopt Kathryn, for now, she will remain with Marallich and continue being a loving and caring mom to orphaned animals.
