A dog walker in Brooklyn was hiking through Prospect Park when he saw something unusual. Eric Maus was taking his clients, Gouda and Lily, on a long hike through the park when he noticed a dog next to a tree. The dog was actually a really big, chubby pit bull tied to the tree. Eric got worried and looked around to see if he can find the dog’s owner.

However, when Eric didn’t see anyone nearby, he sensed that something wasn’t right. He decided to approach the pit bull with the other two dogs in tow. As Eric was carefully walking toward the dog, she didn’t move at all. He said that the pit bull was very sweet and so gentle.

When the dog walker came closer to the pitbull, he noticed a piece of paper hanging from the tree and stuck to a cluster of leaves. In the note, the dog’s previous owner wrote that the pitbull was Mamas and expressed that the 7-year-old dog was huge but sweet.

“Take me home. I’m a great dog. Don’t let my size scare you. I’m sweet,” the note read.

It turned out that the dog abandoned in the middle of a busy New York City park, as Eric suspected. He immediately knew that he had to do something about the unfortunate situation since Prospect Park isn’t a good place for a dog to be alone.

Eric posted a picture of Mamas to a neighborhood Facebook page asking for advice, and he immediately received numerous responses. Another good man met Eric and the dog by the tree and even arranged a car to pick them up and drive them to a nearby shelter. They went to Sean Casey Animal Rescue, where there was a kennel available for Mamas.

Both of them walked Mamas out of the park. However, they were forced to take it slow because of her size and possible bladder infection. Once the car arrived, Mamas wasn’t hesitant anymore. She then jumped out of the car.
