Dogs have been used in wars since ancient times. Their use has varied from being trackers or sentries to trained to fight. They are still used in the modern military.

Have you ever wondered what happens to retired military dogs? After they retire from duty, they are given a second chance of life. However, that wasn’t always the case. Military dogs have been euthanized or given to another army until 2000. Then, President Clinton signed a law that allowed military dog adoption.

Military dog adoption uniquely allows citizens to adopt military dogs, which are unique because they’re retired from serving the army.

Now, retired military dogs can get the opportunity to live with the soldiers they served with, thanks to Molli Oliver. She managed to reunite a soldier with his military partner.

Taylor served many tours in Afghanistan, protecting Sergeant Tom Hanson and other soldiers. Taylor, also known as Tay-Tay was so great at her job that made the Taliban put a price on her head.

After Taylor retired from military duty, she was put for adoption. Although her handlers wanted to reunite her former battle partner, the process is very expensive. Sometimes the costly process makes the adoption a challenge.

After Molli realized this, she wanted to help. Although she works as a flight attendant, her main passion is to reunite military soldiers with military dogs they served with. So, she decided to pay and arrange flights for the dogs to get to their previous military partners.

Watch the incredible reunion of Seargent Hanson and Tay-Tay below. He was so nervous waiting for the dog to arrive. Molli was traveling in first class right next to Taylor, and reassuring her that they will see “daddy” very soon!

The retired military dog was so happy and excited to see Hanson, she ran straight to his open arms!
