Sometimes people can fall in love with a dog even when they only see his picture. That happened Jane and husband Geoff when they saw a picture of the St.Bernard named Cosmo on an adoption site. Jane immediately knew that she wants to adopt the 130-pound dog, no matter what it took to get the dog there.
Cosmo’s former owner abandoned him to the animal shelter Hearts United for Animals based in Alaska. Although he didn’t give a reason for Cosmo’s surrender, it was obvious that it wasn’t his fault. The huge dog is the definition of a perfect companion, and the shelter staff knew they had to find him a new forever home.
When Jane and Geoff were looking for a dog to adopt, they saw Cosmo’s picture and it was love at first sight! The couple instantly knew that the huge mass of fur and love has to come home with them. But, there was only one problem: going to the shelter to get the dog.

The couple lives in New York, which is around 1,500 miles from the shelter where Cosmo was being kept. But, the couple was so determined to adopt the dog, so they made a plan. Jane wanted to fly to Nebraska, rent a car and then drive home with Cosmo.
It was clear that the over-sized pup didn’t receive the best care from his former owner, but that didn’t affect his ability to love. He is so loving and cuddly!
When Jane met him at the shelter in Nebraska, she gave him a stuffed animal. Cosmo was so happy, he immediately started kissing her and rolling over so she could rub his tummy!
When it came time to get the dog in the car, he didn’t seem to like the idea. It took three adults to get the massive dog into the car. But, Cosmo got used to the car in no time. When they arrived in New York, the dog was so excited to take a look around.
Now, Cosmo is living his best life with his new animal siblings: two dogs and a giant rabbit! He lives in the country and goes on walks in the woods and near the lake. It appears that no better family could have adopted Cosmo!
