As coronavirus continues to spread around the world, many governments decided to lockdown their countries. Recently, the World Health Organization labeled the coronavirus outbreak as a pandemic. During these dark times, it’s very important to keep yourself safe and healthy.

People are afraid. Some of them even decided to abandon or even euthanize their pets, believe they believe pets can transmit the virus. However, that is not true and it’s very important to not believe everything you see on the Internet. There is no evidence that proves people can get coronavirus from pets.

Other people are more compassionate and during the coronavirus pandemic, they decided to adopt animals from shelters.

The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) has received so much support from kind people. The society was worried they wouldn’t have enough people to take care of the animals, so they asked the community for help. Many people offered to volunteer and even opened their homes for the animals.

In 5 days, 160 animals found foster homes and 159 animals were adopted.

The society is so grateful. Now, 319 animals are sleeping in their new homes instead of their kennels. Although there are no animals in the shelter for adoption right now, there will be more animals coming in the next few days.

WHS decided to ease adoptions at the Milwaukee and Green Bay campuses, but only by scheduling appointments. The campuses at Door County, Racine, and  Ozaukee are closed at this time.

In a post on Facebook, WHS expressed their gratitude to their community. They wished they could thank you all people in person, but unfortunately, that is not possible right now.

If you want to give back to the community, there is a great opportunity. For fostering or adopting animals, CLICK HERE.
