Meet Kong, a one-year-old dog that was living in an animal shelter in Oklahoma. He was suffering from a painful skin disease, his skin was sunburnt and he even lost all of his furs. Fortunately, the Texas-based rescue organization Border Collie Rescue & Rehab decided to rescue him 3 years ago.

At first, the dog was shy, but later he came out of his shell. Kong’s skin started to heal and even his fur began growing back. When the dog started feeling better, the rescue organization put him up for adoption.

When Craig Hartsell saw Kong, he instantly knew that he found the perfect dog for him. After a few interviews and home visits, Kong’s adoption was approved. Hartsell decided to change his name into ZIB, a famous Soviet space dog.

When Hartsell went to take Kong/ZIB from his foster home, he had to take a picture with him.

Hartsell said he will never forget the moment when he first met ZIB. The dog sat right in front of him, looked into his eyes and even gave him a hug!

ZIB made an amazing transformation in a few months. When he first got to Border Collie Rescue & Rehab, he was in pain when they touched his skin. Now, that awful period is behind him and he enjoys cuddling with his new dad every single day!

Hartsell loves ZIB very much and he even can’t imagine his life without him. Ever since he adopted the dog, he feels much happier and fulfilled.

Although ZIB’s first year was tough, he made an incredible recovery and now he lives with an owner that loves him very much. ZIB was once neglected and all he needed was love and affection. Now, Hartsell can give him all the love and attention he needs.

We are grateful that these two found each other!
