Meet Kayla Filoon, a 20-year-old student who manages to find time and volunteer as a dog walker in a local animal shelter. When she saw one pit bull for the first time, she instantly fell in love with the canine. The adopted pit bull was brought to the shelter in Philadelphia and didn’t have fur on his ears and tail.

Kayla instantly knew that there is a special bond between her and the pit bull who was named Russ. It was clear that the dog is a stray and lived a tough life on the streets. Russ was really beaten up and very skinny. When Kayla saw the dog sitting so calmly, staring at her, she immediately thought to take him home.

She knew that she needed to act fast because the animal shelter had to euthanize at least 15 dogs. All dogs have a chance to be put down, especially those who are weak and sick. Russ fit the profile, so Kayla knew that she had to adopt him.

The next day, she went to the shelter and signed the adoption papers. Since she took the dog home, he wouldn’t leave her side. He always finds a way to cuddle with his new owner.

When her friend took a picture of Kayla and Russ, shared it on social media, it immediately went viral.

Kayla believes that the picture will inspire others to adopt shelter dogs instead of buying.

Each year, more than 2.7 million cats and dogs have to be put down because animal shelters are overcrowded. Also, buying pets isn’t helping stray dogs and cats.

According to the Humane Society of the U.S., there are currently 70 million stray animals living in the country. Only 6 to 8 million enter the animal shelters. Adopt, don’t shop!

This adopted pit bull shows how much love you’ll get in your life if you give him just a little piece of your heart!
