Meet Valtteri Mulkahainen from Sotkamo, Finland. He is a physical education teacher but spends his free time he enjoys photography. In the last six years, Valtteri has been taking pictures of his country’s wildlife and captured many amazing moments. And this is a story that is proof of it.
A few years ago, Valtteri planned to explore a forest near the town of Martinselkonen. As the man was walking in the area, he saw a bear with a few small cubs. He said that the bear cubs behaved just like little children. They were playing and even had a few fights.
He also felt like he was on a playground in front of his house, where kids played around. At some point, the three of them stood on their hind legs and began pushing each other. It looked like they were dancing in a circle.

Valtteri was just 164 feet away from the playful action and had the perfect view. He spent all evening and all night taking pictures of the entire bear family.
However, bumping into a bear everywhere in Finland except the Åland Islands is a common thing. Most of the bears live in the eastern area of the country and Lapland, but people can also see them in southern and western parts.
Like the cubs have successfully proven us, bears are strong and can move quickly. They use their forelegs for hunting and getting around. Also, bears are good swimmers and climbers.
However, Valtteri managed to get such clear photos of the bears is really amazing. These amazing creatures will typically try to get away from humans as fast as they can. Seeing a bear in the wild is pretty rare because these animals almost always get away immediately after detecting human presence.
According to the Finnish Natural Resources Institute, there were between 2020 and 2130 bears before the 2019 hunting season.
