If you ever thought of adopting a cute little kitty, you would think of going to an animal shelter. However, have you thought of visiting a bookstore to adopt a cat? There is a bookstore in Canada that allows kittens to roam freely inside.

There is a bookstore just outside of Halifax in Nova Scotia, Canada that lets rescue kittens roam around freely.

When you go to Otis & Clementine’s Books and Coffee, you will see something unusual – lots of kittens! They are playing around and napping between the books. The best part is that you can adopt any of the kittens in the bookstore and give them a forever home. What is better than cats, coffee, and books?

The bookstore owner Ellen Helmke confirmed that there are several kittens and their mothers in the shop at any time. The South Paw Conservation Nova Scotia rescue group provides the kittens.

If you ever visit Otis & Clementine’s and see a kitty friend whom you absolutely adore, then you should act fast. The kittens are adopted fairly quickly.

However, adopting these cats isn’t as easy as it looks. The rescue group manages everything and it costs 255 Canadian dollars (or 194 US dollars) to adopt a kitten. Medical expenses are included in the adoption fees. Also, future pet owners must provide references before adopting them.

This innovative program was started last year when Helmke realized that there’s plenty of space in her shop for cute kitty cats. More than 30 cats from the bookstore have been adopted. Hopefully, this number will increase every year.

Just this month alone, the rescue group rescued 3 kittens, 4 cats, 6 puppies, and 2 dogs. The bookstore is one of many foster homes that provide an enriching place for the kittens and cats. The rescue group is very thankful for this amazing platform.

According to the rescue group’s rep, all of the cats and kittens are “vet checked, vaccinated, feline leukemia tested, treated with revolution, and dewormed within the first few days of arrival or when healthy/old enough.”
