It’s unusual to see a dog who is going to church every day. However, in the small town of San Donaci near Brindisi, Italy, it is a common event. It all started when this dog lost his owner, so he comes back to the place where his owner’s funeral held place.

Tommy, a 7-year-old German shepherd, goes to mass every day and sits near the altar during the service. Everybody who goes to this church knows the dog and they expect to see him there. However, the reason why he is visiting is so heartbreaking.

The German shepherd belonged to 57-year-old Maria Margherita Lochi. He was abandoned in fields when she found him. She rescued him as a puppy so they had a very strong bond. The dog accompanied Maria to church every day and sat at her feet.

Father Donato Panna confirmed that the dog attends and celebrates every Mass. He is also very well behaved, he doesn’t even bark during the masses. Such a good boy!

Sadly, Maria died a few months ago. Ever since she died, Tommy has been waiting for his owner to return. The last place the dog saw her was at the church while attending his owner’s funeral. Now, Tommy returns every single day and comes when he hears the mass bellringing. He leaves after the services are completed.

The whole village has adopted Tommy and looks after him. They know that that’s how Maria would have wanted it. He became a loyal friend to everyone in the community and because of his wish to see his previous owner, they get to see him every day.

Once again, it’s proved that dogs are loyal. Everyone who owns a dog how amazing these creatures are!
