Governments around the world put their countries in lockdown as a safety measure to stop the coronavirus from spreading even more. They are now implementing new strict restrictions for pets.
In South Africa, it was ordered pet owners not to take their dogs for a walk in the next three weeks. During a conference, Police Minister Bheki Cele said those who want to walk their dogs can do that around their houses. Jogging has been also banned.
There are 709 people infected with the coronavirus and the number increases almost every day. The government decided to enforce a curfew, starting this Friday. The police and the military will patrol the streets.

However, South Africans can still go outside to buy food or medicine. However, alcohol is considered non-essential. Cele said those who go out just to buy liquor, will face some problems.
Every country that has confirmed cases, deals with the pandemic in its own way. Take Spain for example. The country is the new European hotspot for the coronavirus epidemic. Fortunately, the Spanish government allows its citizens to walk their dogs. However, it’s forbidden to rent them out to other citizens who are trying to get out of the house.
The Civil Guard police had to sanction a man who was renting his dogs out on social media.
Spain currently has 56,188 cases and 4,089 deaths. The country declared a state of emergency on March 14. They have also implemented harsh restrictions which lead to 484 people arrests.
The government in Hong Kong asked pet owners not to abandon their dogs during this hard time. They also urged people to stop kissing their furry companions after two dogs were tested positive for coronavirus.
However, there is still no evidence that proves pets can are a source of COVID-19 infection. But, you should always practice healthy habits around your pets.
