Once again, it is proved that dogs are a man’s best friend. Some of you may not know a dog can sense that a person is sick or near death. Also, it is in their nature to shower the same person with comfort, care, and love because their very lives revolve around those who care for them the most. A few domestic animals have the same quality such as cows, who can sense death in their house or vicinity. Also, many people have seen silent tears on the animals’ eyes as they weep for the recently departed soul.
Benny the dog was rescued in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. A nice family from Washington adopted him about a year and a half ago. When he arrived in his new home, he and his dad, Scott Ballenger, immediately became best friends who did everything together.

According to the other members of the family, Benny was afraid of people. Despite his fear, he loved and trusted his dad. In return, Ballenger and his girlfriend took Benny everywhere with them. Ballenger and his dog developed a strong bond and they really loved each other!
Unfortunately, Scott was admitted to a hospital after he developed a serious medical condition. Benny didn’t know what was happening until he was taken to the hospital to see his dad. “Benny would sniff his head and face but was really unsure what was going on,” Scott’s daughter Alexis said. “He would sit with dad for a few minutes here and there.”
Something changed at some point It was like the dog sensed just how sick his owner was and that he needed him, so he refused to leave his dad’s side.
Until the moment of Scott’s last breath, brave Benny sat next to him all day long, comforting him. He was also snuggling his arm. Unfortunately, Scott passed away the next day, which left his family and beloved pet in tears.

Benny took Scott’s passing pretty hard. Although his dad is not around anymore, Benny still searchers for him during the day, and cries during the night. Although he receives cuddles and affection from the other members of the family, he misses his best buddy. However, the whole family knows they can get through this hard time together.
