Getting a pet usually means sticking with your animal forever, but it seems that not everyone shares the same opinion.
Unfortunately, many owners decide to leave their pets because they simply don’t want them anymore.
Recently, the staff at the shelter at Harris County, Texas, decided to share their story, so people can be aware that the number of abandoned their pets has been increased which is really heartbreaking to learn.
In a Facebook post, the staff explained that the shelter is overcrowded. They also shared pictures of pet owners who are waiting in front of the shelter for many hours just to leave their furry companions.

It’s really devastating to see how many people want to dump their pets. According to the Facebook post, the line is really long, it even spreads to the parking lot of the shelter.
Instead of waiting in line or looking for another shelter, some of the owners just tie the animal to a nearby tree or just leave it near the shelter. Their main goal is to return home without the pet.
The Harris County Animal Shelter fits 200 pets, but their current number of animals is more than 500. It’s a crisis for the shelter.
When owners want to leave their pets, they usually have lame excuses like moving to another place, being unable to financially take care of the animal, their landlord doesn’t allow any pets and more. However, some owners are brutally honest and admit they just don’t want their pets anymore.
The scenes in front of the shelter are really heartbreaking and the animals are really confused and scared. The shelter staff knows that the lives of all the abandoned animals are in their hands, so they will try to help all of them.
The number of abandoned animals usually increases so much during the summer. However, the staff will try and do everything they can so the abandoned animals can survive.
