The Grey Muzzle Canine Hospice is a non-profit organization founded by a retired nurse based in Mansfield, England. Many of the dogs that come to this organization have not led good lives. Some of them have been abused or overworked, while others have been abandoned and left to die on their own.

As these neglected dogs live out their final days, Nicola Coyle is working hard to shower them with love and affection. After all, they deserve it!

Coyle used to be a nurse and when she retired, she decided to channel her energy and take care of dogs in need. Last year, she founded the Grey Muzzle Canine Hospice.

Coyle takes dogs that are not expected to live longer than six months. She is determined to make their lasts days on earth comfortable and filled with love and affection.

The dogs come from dog pounds. If Coyle doesn’t take them, they would need to be euthanized. Instead of being put down, they get to live out their last days in comfort.

Coyle usually takes care of 2 or 3 dogs. She makes sure to give them the love they actually deserve. If the dogs are well enough, Coyle takes them out on adventures, including the beach or to the pub for a nice steak dinner.

Coyle also celebrates every dog’s birthday with a party and cake. Although she doesn’t really know their real birthdays, she believes that they deserve to have their lives properly celebrated at least once.

She spends around 500£ per dog. Although she provided all the funds herself for a long period, she recently started to accept donations in order to continue with her important effort.

For the first time in their lives, many of the dogs that came to the Grey Muzzle Canine Hospice, have experienced true comfort and affection.

It is a hard job. Although Coyle grieves every dog that passes through her home, she is aware that without her, these dogs would not have received the love and comfort they deserved.

The dogs spend their final days showered with love, affection, and delicious food.
