Stories with happy endings don’t usually start with a dog dumped in an animal shelter. Concerned citizens can put homeless animals there when the facility is closed because it has both indoor and outdoor kennels. However, pet owners can’t surrender or dump a pet on purpose there. But, that happens anyway.
Those who dump their dogs have to pay a surrender fee. However, they often walk away and are never seen again.
Recently, a woman dumped a dog and even chose to take mark the event with a selfie in front of the gate. When the staff at the shelter saw the dog, the discovered he didn’t have a microchip. All they had was a name on the door: Staunch.
Unfortunately, dogs don’t usually take the abandoning very well. Staunch didn’t even want to get out of the kennel.

Shelter staff share pictures of the dog online, hoping that someone might help them find any information about him or the woman who dumped him. Although the staff didn’t have high hopes, someone actually contacted him, claiming to be Staunch’s owner. He said that he’s been out of the town for a month and left his furry companion with his sister.
When he found out that his dog has been surrendered to an animal shelter, he tried to contact the staff but with no luck. Finally, he reached them through the comment section on Facebook. In order to prove that Staunch is actually his dog, he shared pictures of the dog much happier. The man confirmed that the woman who dumped the dog was his sister.
Many animal lovers condemned her for dumping the dog, but her relatives are defending her, claiming that she couldn’t properly care for the dog anymore. She couldn’t find someone else to take care of the dog, so her only choice left was to leave him at the shelter.
Fortunately, the shelter agreed to take care of Staunch until his owner returns. We are hoping that they will reunite soon!
