Sibling relationships are incredibly important. Although siblings can sometimes be annoying, nobody can protect you like a brother or sister. This kind of love also applies to animals.

Sadly, one dog and her puppies were abandoned in rural Louisiana. Fortunately, a family found them and decided to take just the mom home, but also asked a local rescue to help find homes for her 8 babies. Although the rescue was full and couldn’t accept new animals, they decided to ask their partner Helen Woodward Animal Center for help.

The abandoned puppies along with 31 other dogs were transported to the animal center which is located in  Rancho Santa Fe, California. After the puppies arrived, the employees discovered that one of them was different from the others.

All puppies started running and playing around the center, but one of them started showing signs of special needs. The staff then discovered ed that the puppy was actually deaf and nearly blind.

However, the puppy who was named Star wasn’t alone. Her brother named Denver acted like her own personal guide. He is always by her side helping her develop the other senses so she can walk around freely. Whenever Denver isn’t around Star, he happily runs back to her just to let her know he is there.

The two of them are inseparable. Star is really dependant on Denver, so the center decided to put them up for adoption together. Whoever decides to adopt them will receive special training on how to care for a deaf and blind dog.

It’s safe to say that we never stop learning from animals. We can learn from Star and Denver that siblings’ relationships are very important and valuable.

Hopefully, a loving family will adopt Star and Denver together. If you want to adopt them, call 858-756-4117 or visit animalcenter.org.
