Mike Thawley, a firefighter of the Sacramento Fire Department, was on an emergency duty call when he heard the sobbing sound of a puppy crying from behind a tree. When Mike was done his duty, the thought of the puppy in distress kept ringing in his mind.

He went back to the tree, and in awe, he found a nearly hairless puppy with scabs and swollen legs. She was shivering in the rain and was soon close to death.

The puppy was abandoned and abused by her owners. She had been tied to a tree and left to die in the cold rain. Mike, the good Samaritan, took her to his home. He treated her to a warm bath, soothe her wounds, and made her feel cozy.

He got familiar and decided to name her “Chunk.” Although he took her to the “Front Street Animal Shelter” to be in good hands, Chunk’s memory was evergreen in his mind, and he had to see her one more time.

Mike visited Chunk a day after the rescue mission. He was surprised to meet little Chunk in a cute pink sweater that covered her hairless body.

Chunk was genuinely happy and jumped to receive Mike’s warm embrace. Chunk expresses her gratitude to her savior once more with heartfelt dog kisses.

This encounter touched the heart of Mike to consider the possibility of adopting this lucky pup. She is in a better place and is happy with her new owners.

Their heartwarming reunion is caught in this video.
