Animals usually create their own homes in nature. These creations by hummingbird can evoke a feeling of warmth and contentment, just like bird nests.
Birds often build their nests on trees so they can look after their babies. Birds use different materials for their nests like sticks, grass, or moss. However, one future mom found a way to make her nest even more special and cozier.
Conservationist Bianca Caroline Soares from Paraguay has seen many hummingbird nests on branches in the jungle near her house. Although she is used to seeing bird nests, she was surprised by this particular nest because it had a roof!

Soares saw at least 5 nests that day but she was most impressed when she saw the one with the leafy roof, which provided shade. This nest turned out to be the nicest one in the neighborhood and a good place to start a family.
Soares observed the bird’s nest in the next few weeks, even months. She saw that the mom had two hummingbird babies, who really benefitted from the roof on their “house”. Kudos for their thoughtful mother!
Soares is hoping that this kind and caring mother will give an example to people on how to properly take care of nature.
Hummingbirds are the smallest birds in the world. They are also the only bird species that can fly backward. There are more than 340 different species and they can all be found in the Americas.
Everything is about location these days. Thanks to the mom’s thoughtful planing, her babies were safe and sound. They eventually grew up. But, before leaving the childhood home, they maybe should learn a few lessons for design so they can build their own nests when needed.
