Meet Wandi, the stray puppy that was found in someone’s backyard in Wandiligong, Australia. Locals were stunned by his cuteness, but they didn’t know if it was a fox or a dog.

Wandi is a fluffy and playful dog with the cutest puppy eyes. When he was discovered, he was taken to the Alpine Animal Hospital. Vets discovered that the puppy was Australian Alpine Dingo after conducting a DNA test. They were hoping that the DNA would be of high content, but when his tests came back they were pleasantly surprised.

Dr. Bec Day believes that Wandi was carried by an eagle because of the marks he found on his back. This explains why the dog was discovered alone. However, that doesn’t have to be necessarily true. He may have ended up in a resident’s backyard in a different way.

Luckily, Wandi’s life changed on better. While he was waiting for his DNA test results, he was brought to the Australian Dingo Foundation in Victoria. He joined the other dingoes in the breeding program in the charity’s sanctuary.

Although he was brought there as a precaution, the foundation is hoping that he will become an important part of their breeding program. Wandi’s been classified as a rare purebred Dingo.

Most of the creatures in the wild are usually dingo-dog hybrids. There are three different kinds of dingos in Australia—desert, northern, and alpine. However, only alpine dingoes are endangered.

According to Australian Geographic, purebred dingos are facing extinction as they interbreed with domestic dogs. This is the main reason why the discovery of the adorable dog Wandi is so meaningful for the Australian Dingo Foundation and their breeding program.
