It’s unknown when the coronavirus pandemic will end. Although you may think there is no bright side, it actually is. China and northern Italy were the first countries that went into lockdown. As a result, pollution has drastically decreased. Citizens are now able to see amazing scenes from the canals of Venice.

Usually, water in canals is very murky and filled with debris. The city doesn’t have sewers, so waste usually goes right into the canals. However, they are now crystal clear in some parts. Just take a look at the pictures that were taken just a few days ago. You can actually see fish swimming in the water, which connects to the Adriatic Sea.

People took pictures and videos of the clear water in Venice’s canals. Since the activities in the city were put on hold, fish became more visible in the canals.

Citizens were surprised to see clear water in the popular destination city. As a result of the quarantine, there is no traffic in Venice and the city’s canals became very clear, even swans have returned. Hopefully, citizens will learn how to keep the city clean even when the quarantine ends and tourists return.

The cleaner environment is the silver lining of the coronavirus crisis. Hopefully, we will learn that we can have a positive effect on mother nature if we tried.
