A woman from the UK decided to start doing a really rewarding job, but sadly it always ends in heartbreak. The reason why she took the job will melt your heart.
Nicola Harrison takes in dying dogs and cares for them during their last moments.
Unfortunately, many people decided to abandon their pets instead of taking care of them. This happens very often, especially when dogs become terminally ill. It sounds heartless, but some people have to make this hard decision because of insufficient funds or incapacity to handle care.

But, sometimes people are selfish and leave their pets in unfamiliar places just because they don’t want to watch their pets die.
It’s so sad to think that an animal will spend his final moments without a loved one by his side. Pets don’t always get the goodbyes they deserve.
Harrison is aware that abandoned dogs are in pain, so she decided to open a pet “hospice” in order to make their final moments bearable.
The hospice is not a place where dogs go so they can die. Harrison takes care of them, make the dogs have fun and give them the treats they deserve.
Harrison came up with the idea while she was working at a kennel. She got very upset after seeing many lonely dogs with a little time left.
Then, she opened the Grey Muzzle Canine Hospice Project from her home in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. She takes care of the abandoned terminally ill dogs that have a few months left to live.
The dogs can celebrate their birthdays, get ice cream and even steak dinners during their final days. Harrison always gives them love and attention – and that’s one of the main reasons why Harrison can’t take more than two animals at once.
Harrison spends approximately $600 in order to make the final days more comfortable and special for each dog.
The dogs are usually with Harrison for a few weeks, but this doesn’t mean that she doesn’t get emotional when they die. She grieves every dog that comes at the hospice.
Harrison used to work as a nurse. She paid all the dog’s expenses by herself, but when people found out about the hospice, they wanted to donate.
Now that Harrison has more resources, she also provides advice to pet owners who have terminally ill dogs. She teaches them how to take care of their dogs and help with medications.
