Can you imagine 238 cats in one house? Too shocking, so many cats without any supervision. I still can’t believe how many cats are in one location. In northern Japan were found 238 cats living in one empty house,
residents complained to regional authorities that it was impossible to care for such a large number of cats.

Тhe problem appeared when the owner of the house-made a visit over unpaid rent. Тhe Еnvironment Мinistry said it was really rare to over 200 cats to be retrieved from one place in Japan.

According to city officials, a married couple in their 50s and their son in their 30s lived in a two-story house in Sato’s Kita Ward.

When the animal control members have been informed of the situation in the house by the owner, they noticed a lot of bones from dead cats and malnourished cats. A member of the organization said that when they approached the dead bodies, the smell was so unpleasant that they could not open their eyes.

When the owner of the house filed a lawsuit against the tenants, they left the site in late March. The cats were placed under the care of an animal care center and most of them could already be passed on and some of them were adopted as pets.

Tamami Katuta who heads a nonprofit organization promoting the protection of stray cats criticized the bad environment in the house saying, “There were cats in that group developing health problems like hearing loss.”

Мeasures have also been taken by the police, they are aware of the situation. They’ve made comparative reports of a number of violations of animal rights laws, with the annual total reaching a high record of 105 cases last year.
We hope that there will be no such cases in the future.
