A dog saved his owner’s life when his house caught on fire. Unfortunately, the dog died during the tragic accident but he managed to save his owner.

Last year, the 27-year-old photographer Cole Finney who lives in Los Angeles, California, was sleeping when his dog named Bowie started barking very loud and woke him up.

When Finney opened his eyes, he saw that there was a thin layer of smoke in his room. Although he rented a shared house, he was alone at the moment when the fire broke out. Unfortunately, none of the smoke alarms gone off. The only alarm was the dog barking.

Finney got up and opened the door of his room. A cloud of black smoke hit him in the face and filled his entire room completely.

Although he was struggling to breathe and couldn’t see because of the smoke, he was aware that he had to get away from the house. He went to one of the windows, but he still couldn’t get out because thick metal bars were blocking the window. He was trapped inside the house.

However, he somehow made it to the front door. When he touched the door handle, a huge inferno erupted from the floor and immersed the door with flames around him.

As a result of the heat, his chest, hands, arms, and legs melted. The fires originated from a furnace that was installed before he moved into the house.

When he noticed that the fire engulfed his body, his first thought was that he was going to die. He started panicking while he was looking for a way out of the property.

Finally, Finney found a glass window and he broke it. As soon as he cracked a hole in the window, the smoke escaped and so did Finney. He jumped through the window and somehow landed on his feet.

However, his dog was still inside the house. Finney opened the back door and started yelling Bowie’s name, but there was no sign of the dog. Then, fire trucks drove and Finney’s house exploded once again.

He was immediately taken to a hospital where doctors sedated and intubated him because he inhaled a lot of smoke.

Unfortunately, the doctors informed him that Bowie didn’t make it and Finney was heartbroken.

His parents helped him fully recover. Even though Finney was injured during the fire, the injuries didn’t hurt as much as losing his dog Bowie, who saved his life.
