After police officers killed George Floyde, many people decided to protest against police brutality in several cities across the United States. During these protests, many people were hurt and shops and other businesses were destroyed as well.

But, one man from Milwaukee recently lost his dog during a protest. Unfortunately, the dog was shot and killed on the east side of the city. Even though the incident happened on June 1, the dog owner decided to share his story now.

John Garey supports the protesters and their cause despite the fact that his dog was killed during a protest. He believes that this was just a random act of some person who took his dog’s life.

Chief, the 14-year-old German Shepherd mix, was Garey’s best friend. It wasn’t easy for him to open up about losing his dog and he can’t describe how sad he is.

However, Garey will have to move on with his life and find comfort in the memories that he already made with Chief. He added that the dog loved to play with kids and had an amazing personality.

However, Garey never imagined that he would have to say goodbye to his best friend the way he did. He said that everything happened so fast and it has been surreal.

Garey and Chief went out for a night walk on June 1 at Oakland and Kenwood. Since the protests were happening right in front of Garey’s home, he decided to go out of the back. However, one reckless driver appeared and Garey yelled for the driver to slow down.

Then, something scary happened. The driver got out of the car and shot twice, but one of the shots hit Chief. Garey immediately went to the vet, but Chief had to be put down.

A few days later, Garey’s friends started a campaign on GoFundMe in order to raise money to help pay for the vet bill and even help him to get a new dog.

The police are still searching for the reckless driver of that car who shot Chief.
