Meet Lek Lek, a compassionate dog from Sri Lanka who lives with her family.
She loves her human dad Tushara who makes her feel loved and safe. Even though her life is wonderful right now, it hasn’t always been like this.
Lek Lek spent most of her life on the streets of Nuwela Eliya. She didn’t know where would she get her next meal from.
Despite everything, this dog had a positive personality and was determined to find a forever family. Her efforts have finally paid off.
A few years ago, several elephant rescuers were walking through Nuwela Eliya in Sri Lanka when they saw the homeless dog. The rescuers were working for the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand so they visited Sri Lanka to do research on elephants.
Elephant Nature Park is a center that rescues abused or otherwise suffering elephants and rehabilitates them. However, this time it wasn’t an elephant that needed to be rescued.
The group was walking down the street when they saw a stray dog who was constantly waving her tail in order to catch someone’s attention.
The puppy was waving her tail so vigorously that the rescuers decided to stop and pet her.

After a few pats, the group had to walk away. However, the puppy didn’t want to be left behind, so she started following them. W
Then the group realized that she is right behind them, they picked her up and took her to the place where they found her. They began walking again and the puppy followed them once more.
Instead of leaving her again, the group decided to help her. They started asking people on the street if they wanted to adopt the little pup, but everyone declined.
Fortunately, the group’s driver Thushara decided to take care of the dog. The group named the dog Lek Lek and she was finally happy to have a forever home!
After several years of living with Thushara, a woman from the Elephant rescue team members decided to visit Lek Lek to see how she was doing. Despite the fact that Lek Lek didn’t see her rescuer for three years, she still remembered the woman who saved her!
Their reunion was caught on camera and you can see how much they love each other!
We are glad that Lek Lek will always remember her rescuers who brought her and her human dad together.
