A man saved a dog trapped inside a car during a 34C heatwave by smashing the vehicle’s window with an axe.

Surveillance footage shows a good man smashed the car window after noticing a Yorkshire Terrier dog left inside on one of the hottest days of the year.

The man saw the panting dog on the back seat of VW Golf at Newbury Retail Park in Berkshire on Monday.

The dog owner was shopping with her young daughter in Currys and left the poor dog inside the car in sweltering temperatures for more than 45 minutes.

The man, who has been praised as a legend online, broke the glass on the front passenger side window with a huge tool. It took him 8 attempts to smash the window.

Police officers who were taking their lunch break at a nearby M&S were immediately called over. After the little dog was rescued, it was checked by vets.

Worried onlookers can be heard in the disturbing video which was viewed over 30,000 times. They were relieved that the dog was finally safe.

A local woman named Samantha Heaver shared the video on Facebook and condemned the irresponsible dog owner for leaving the pet trapped in a car on a hot day. She even confronted the woman who said that she will be out in 20 minutes.

However, the irresponsible owner was reported for leaving the dog inside the car for 45 minutes.

When Ed looked inside the car, he noticed that the dog was panting and trying to get out. Within 5 minutes he smashed the car window, but there was no sign of the car owner.

After the police arrived, they got the dog out and one of the officers took it to a local vet.

Samantha noticed that when the woman came out with nothing ten minutes later, it was obvious that it wasn’t essential to leave the dog inside the car.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman told the public that a man smashed a car window to rescue a dog trapped inside.
