We aren’t used to seeing interspecies friendships. However, the friendship between a puppy and a pigeon will certainly brighten up your day!

Even though they aren’t the same species, one common thing brought them closer when they first met last week.

The chihuahua puppy named Lundy can’t use his legs and can’t walk, while Herman the pigeon can’t spread his wings after experiencing a neurological injury. Despite their difference and disabilities, they became the best cuddle buddies.

Both of them were brought at The Mia Foundation, an animal shelter that takes care of animals with physical abnormalities and birth defects.

The New York-based rescue center shared some pictures of the animals online and social media users fell in love with the cuddle buddies! In one of the pictures, Lundy and Herman look at each other like they have found their soulmate.

In the other pictures, the puppy and the pigeon are snuggling together. Herman lies on top of the puppy, who doesn’t mind it.

The Facebook post was shared over 50,000 times and gathered more than 20,000 comments and 22,000 likes.

Sue Rogers, the founder of the non-profit organization, said that these animals had a rough start of life, but now they are happy.

When Lundy arrived at the organization in January, he weighed just six ounces. He was so small he could even fit in a pocket. Unfortunately, he was suffering from a condition known as a swimmer’s syndrome, so his hind legs weren’t working properly. Because of his condition, his breeders didn’t want him so they decided to send him to Rogers.

On the other hand, Herman was found in the parking lot. He didn’t move for 3 days before his rescuers noticed that the bird couldn’t fly. Since wildlife rescues didn’t want to take him in, Rogers did.

Rogers then set Lundy down beside the bird. The pair immediately snuggled up together, so Rogers took a few pictures that captured hearts around the world.
