A family from Melbourne was reunited with their dog after he got stuck in a muddy wombat hole. He couldn’t find a way to return to the surface.

The 5-year-old Labrador dog named Blacky was exploring the rural backyard in Emerald when he got stuck in the wombat hole and it was in need of urgent rescue.

When Blacky, who sometimes is also known as Butch, was with his dog friend named Puggy, who ran to the house to alert the Jonas family that something was wrong. Then, Blacky’s owner Rebecca Jonas followed Puggy to the hole where the dog was stuck.

At first, she was searching for her dog in the area but then heard a bark from a wombat hole. She said that Blacky was so deep and it was really hard to hear him at the entrance of the tunnel.

Rebecca wasn’t able to free Blacky by herself, so she had to call the firefighters, who soon came to help rescue the stuck dog. They were armed with shovels floodlights and shovels. According to the firefighter Paul Yandle, he said they had to try really hard to pull the dog out. Fortunately, they were working tirelessly in a hard terrain for 2 hours to rescue the dog.

When Blackie was finally freed, he immediately ran to his owners, who were so grateful to the firefighters for saving their dog. All of the people around him including Svetlana, Rebecca’s mom, witnessed the dog emerging from the hole. It must have been a very happy moment. She also thanked the firefighters for saving Blacky, her daughter’s dog. He was really muddy.

After the dog returned to his home, the first thing he did was going to the food bowl.

I guess we can all learn from this story to never give up because will be always light at the end of the tunnel.
