The 14-year-old cat named Bob who had a special role in James Bowen’s life and was written about in the book has recently died.

On Tuesday, Hodder & Stoughton, who published the bestseller”A Street Cat Named Bob”, released a statement and confirmed Bob’s death.

They added that Bob was a famous cat who traveled around the world for book signings and meeting with fans. It seemed like he was coping very well with his feline fame. Sadly, he passed away and he will be greatly missed.

James, Bob’s owner, said that the cat saved his life and gave him more than companionship. He also said that he found a new direction and purpose that he was missing in his life.

James along with Bob achieved huge success with their books and films. The furry companion met with many people and touched more than a million lives. There has never been a cat like him and he will never be forgotten.

When James met Bob in 2007, he was a recovering addict, while the cat was abandoned and injured. So, James decided to take him in and take care of him.

Back in 2012, Hodder & Stoughton published Bowen’s first book named A Street Cat Named Bob. In this book, James shared the sweet story of his relationship with his cat.

After that, he also wrote three sequels:  The World According to Bob, A Gift from Bob, and The Little Book of Bob. This book collection was sold in 8 million copies in 40 different languages.

The original story was turned into a movie that was released in 2016 and Luke Treadaway was starring as Bowen. Bob also appeared in the movie as himself and will also appear in the sequel A Gift from Bob – which will be released by the end of the year.

Bob’s death made many social media users pay tribute to him. Rest in peace, Bob!
