A pet owner recently shared his unfortunate story on social media about his dog who died after killing a venomous cobra.
Jego Macs was watching TV in his house when his dog Moana started barking really loud. At the time, Macs thought that the Shitzu crossbreed chihuahua was just playing around.
After the loud bark, the man went outside to check it and saw that the dog was trying to pull something from underneath the stairs. When Macs went outside, he discovered that there was a poisonous cobra under the stairs.
He didn’t realize that the cobra has already bitten the dog. However, Macs killed the snake. The entire family was grateful to Moana for saving them, especially Macs who happily posted about her heroic act on Facebook. He wrote that he was so proud of his dog who risked her life for the family.

Moana was also looking proud beside the dead snake.
But, not so long after, the position from the snake’s bite had taken its toll on Moana. After a few minutes of saving the family, Moana tragically died and Macs’ happiness turned into sudden sadness. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to immediately bring Moana to the vet because he wasn’t aware that the snake already bit her.
Also, he didn’t have a vehicle at the moment to immediately bring the dog to a vet, which is only 15 minutes away. The cobra’s poison has spread too quickly, which led to the instant death of Moana.
Macs pointed out that the was a part of the family and he never neglected her or wanted her to die.
It’s sad that Moana’s heroic act cost her life. Even though she died, she was really proud of saving her owner’s life. May she rest in peace.
It’s always a heartbreaking feeling when we lose our pets and it’s even sadder when they died trying to save us.
