A young pet cat was rescued after being stuck on an 80ft tree for 40 hours. The 8-month-old cat went missing in Torphins, Aberdeenshire, on Thursday.
The next morning, Bethan Starling, the cat owner, noticed that Scout was sitting at the top of the village’s tallest tree.
A climber, tree surgeons, and a cherry picker were called to help in the rescue mission. Fortunately, they managed to coax the cat down after a two-night adventure.
Bethan explained that her cat walks a few miles a day with a dog. Scout usually goes on a walk every day before dinner. However, when she didn’t return on Thursday, Bethan immediately knew that something was wrong. She went out and searched for the cat in the garden, but with no luck. So, she did a few loops of her favorite walking paths.

Before going to bed, Bethan yelled for Scout and even heard some crying. However, it was really dark at night and she couldn’t see her cat but heard her cries. So, Bethan had to wait for the next morning to search for Scout.
The next morning, her neighbor said he thought he saw a small face at the top of a tree in the garden opposite the house. A mountain climber was called to help. However, he couldn’t help because the tree was too dense. The branches were too sloped so he couldn’t climb the tree.
Scout’s owner said that her cat picked up a good three. She didn’t want to call the fire brigade for help because of the pandemic unless it was really necessary. Bethan talked to the Scottish SPCA and decided to leave the cat there so she can make her own way down.
Scout spent another night on the tree and had a very loud fight with few birds. On Saturday morning, Bethan went out to see if she can coax her down while it was still quite. Although it took Scout over an hour, she managed to come down.
The cat was successfully brought home but already went out on another walk with her dog. Her adventures will continue.
