There are many animals abandoned by their owners. The main reasons for pet abandonment are lack of finance, moving or loss of interest. Now, with the coronavirus spreading around the world, some people think their pets can catch the virus, which is not true.

Pet homelessness is a huge problem not just in the United States, but also around the world. Sadly, the number of animals on the streets increases every day.

Recently, a dog was abandoned on a trail near Tulsa, Oklahoma. Since dogs are famous for their loyalty, the abandoned dog was waiting for his owner to return for 9 hours. However, he didn’t show up, as the Oklahoma Alliance for Animals confirmed. They stated that trail cameras captured a guy stopping his truck on the trail, dumping the dog out and then driving away.

The main goals of this non-profit organization are reducing pet overpopulation and encouraging responsible pet ownership. In a Facebook post, they offered help to people who are struggling to take care of their pets because of COVID-19.

There are over 70 million stray animals just in the United States, but only 6 to 8 million enter the shelters. Unfortunately, 2.7 animals are euthanized because shelters are overcrowded and lack of adopters. If you want to help in some way, you can donate to a local shelter, and foster or even adopt an animal.
