When Patrick Hennessey came across two huddled shapes in the middle of a busy road during the night, he didn’t know what was going on. When he came closer, he saw two pit bulls. One of the dogs was injured, afraid, and in desperate need of medical attention.

Then,  police officers arrived and they didn’t expect the two pit bulls to do what they did next.

When Deputy Reed and Boggs from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, approached the dogs, one of them immediately jumped right into one of the officer’s lap.

A citizen who was passing by in the area took some pictures of the deputies while they were comforting the dogs and waiting for help to arrive.

The pit bulls soon realized that the men were there to help them.

The passerby who took the pictures sent them to the sheriff’s offices and a note in which he thanked the officers for their kind act.

While they were waiting for Animal services to arrive, the officers cuddled and kissed the two dogs. Pit bulls are usually described as violent dogs, but that’s far from the truth. Just take a look at these abandoned pit bulls!

Once the dogs were brought at the shelter, they received treatment for their injuries.  The shelter staff named them Liberty and Justice to tribute the officers who helped them.

The shelter also posted an update about the dogs on their Facebook page, mentioning they are up for adoption.

The shelter also posted another update, this time a video of the pitbull’s reunion with the deputies who rescued them.

The two animals cuddled, hugged, and even licked the two men who were by their side through the incident.

Watch the adorable reunion in the video below.
