Last week, an unexpected visitor went to the Odessa Police Department in Texas and jumped on the counter. The police were surprised to see a friendly dog at their station. However, he was lost and didn’t know where to go. Apparently, the dog thought it was a good idea to report himself as missing.

Sergeant Rusty Martin was one of the officers in the department to receive him. The dog couldn’t care less because he was lost. It appears that he just went out to have a good time — and he got one.

Martin said all the officers were excited to have him in the building. They even got a tennis ball and threw it in the lobby for a while. Everyone fell in love with the dog.

Although officers were enjoying the dog’s surprise company, those who were on duty didn’t forget about the case he actually brought forward. While they were solving his case, it soon hit a snag.

Although the missing dog was wearing a collar, his ID tag had fallen off. Officers had to call animal control so they could arrive and check for the dog’s microchip. However, before animal control arrived, things took a turn.

After a while, the dog decided to back to his family on his own. The dog ran out quickly. Martin wrote about the incident on social media.

The next day, the owner responded and confirmed that his dog returned home safe and sound. The dog lives nearby the station.

The dog, whose name is Chico, had cracked his first case, although he was responsible for creating it. Dogs will be dogs, right?
