Many countries are under lockdown right now due to the coronavirus pandemic, including the United States. People decided to foster or adopt a pet in order to get through this difficult time. Both people and pets can benefit from this. After all, there is a small silver lining while the world fights against COVID-19.

More people are seeking help from animal shelters. In one Florida city, citizens have already stepped up.

It has been reported that something incredible happened in West Palm Beach. All dogs from the Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control have found new homes.

The animal shelter announced the good news in a Facebook post and thanked all the people who adopted or foster a dog. They also thanked the staff and volunteers for their hard work.

The shelter has three kennels, but all of them have been completely emptied. They usually house strays. Surprisingly, this is the first time that every animal in that kennel has found a new home.

However, the shelter staff said that there are few cats, two horses, a pig and a few dogs left for adoption in the main kennel. If you are interested, you can check their website.

New York and Los Angeles were among the first cities to see an increase in animal adoptions. Hopefully, this new “trend” will spread across the country and many animals from the shelters will get adopted, or at least find foster homes.

The number of abandoned animals usually increases during a national crisis. However, the coronavirus made the opposite impact and people are looking for a source of joy during this difficult time.

The Humane Society even established a fund to support animal shelters that may get overcrowded as a result of abandonment during the national crisis.
