In China, seven hundred cats have been found locked in cages, ready to serve for food, and heartbreaking footage shows them screaming for help and whining in pain as they are smashed in cages.

The horrific scene was filmed by an animal lover known by the surname Li, and the footage was soon posted online.
Many cats were believed to have been stolen, and animal traders planned to sell them at restaurants to be slaughtered for their meat, sources told MailOnline.
The cats have been cared for and soon will be housed again, the local animal rescue group said today.
Ms. Li caught the cats in the backyard of the hotel, after being alerted by workers working there, she told reporters that the cats had been brought from several places and were waiting to be transported.
