As children, we are taught to care about our community members, but throughout life, we restrain this relation to our friends and family. This is a heartwarming story of boy who decided he needs to take care of a blind deer.

It appears that children are much more thoughtful and compassionate, not only to other humans but also to animals. In 2015 a Reddit user– Bluecollarclassicist, posted a photo that went viral instantly, inciting compassion.

One morning, Bluecollarclassicist spotted a boy of 10 taking a walk in his neighborhood with a young female deer.

Under the photo, he wrote:

“There is a blind deer in our neighborhood and this boy (10 yrs old) walks her from one grass patch to another every day before school to make sure she finds food.”

The tender-hearted boy simply offered help when he saw the deer.

Deer suffering from blindness or disability are in a dire straight when facing government wildlife officials, who often shot them without attempting to save them.

Fortunately, responders encouraged Bluecollarclassicist to call a wildlife rescue, to assist the deer and make sure Animal Control did not kill it.

After sharing the shot, the Redditor posted an update:

“The deer is getting picked up today by a local animal rescue group (NOT animal control) and taken to a vet for assessment. It will likely be tagged and taken to a controlled forest preserve but they did say that since she seemed so docile that she might end up in an approved farm or petting zoo.”

Soon after, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (INDR), a legally certified and licensed wildlife rehabilitation organization for the treatment of suffering animals adopted the deer.

Although the friendship between the two lasted shortly, their relationship grew on love and kindness.

The 10-year-old was happy to know the INDE will take proper care of his friend.

“He showed a lot of love and respect and my wife and I are going to talk to his mom about a way she would want to see his act of kindness rewarded.”
Everybody wants a neighbor like this!
