Dogs are programmed to be curious by nature. Take this missing dog for example, he actually traveled 1,000 miles away from his home!

On March 5, a woman from Michigan was letting her dog outside when she found another dog that isn’t hers in her backyard. Kris Gibson found Simba, a two-year-old Perro de Presa Canario, and took it to the Mayfair Animal Hospital.

Fortunately, the missing dog had a microchip so the staff from the hospital scanned it and discovered information about Simba’s owners.

Many people believe that microchips have some kind of GPS in them, but that is not true. Microchips only contain information about the pet and its owners.

When the staff scanned the microchip, they found out that Simba was actually from Miami and he somehow ended up in Michigan. It’s unknown how the dog traveled over 1,400 miles across the United States by himself.

Gibson and the hospital staff were very surprised. They are still trying to find out how Simba got to Michigan. However, they will never figure it out.

While Gibson was watching the news a few weeks ago, she saw a story about another dog who was traveling across the country. She never thought that something similar could happen in Michigan.

Simba was missing for more than two months. He was eventually reunited with his rightful owners, thanks to his microchip. The hospital’s staff were able to track his owners who were thrilled to get their dog back. If he didn’t have a chip, he would have never been reunited with his owners.

Dogs are clumsy and curious. They can run away sometimes, but they aren’t always reunited with their owners. This is the main reason why you should microchip your dogs and cats. It’s the only way to get your pet back.
