Not all heroes were capes, but some of them wear a football jersey. During the coronavirus crisis, Josh Lambo, the kicker for the Jacksonville Jaguars, who is a huge animal lover decided to encourage people to adopt dogs from shelters.

Now that people are staying in their homes, they are in a position of adopting a dog that will help them during these difficult times. Since there are many adoption fees, Lambo decided to pay half of them and offered to buy a 6-month supply of dog food for any dogs adopted from Jacksonville beach’s Fur Sisters Shelter.

The 29-year-old player was really proud after he adopted a new puppy named Indy. Now, he wants other people to experience the same happiness and joy while they are social distancing.

The football kicker took it to Instagram to share the news about the partnership with the Jacksonville Beach-based dog rescue.

Recently, the number of adopted dogs and cats from shelters has increased. When Lambo learned the heartwarming news, he was really moved and wants to make sure the trend will continue. The shelter animals also gained new nicknames such as furry assistants and social distancing sidekicks.

Now that people are at home more than usual, shelters decided to use this opportunity and interest people in adopting animals because caretakers aren’t really able to come in.

Thanks to Lambo, people don’t have to worry about adoption fees. The Humane Society in Jacksonville now promotes adopting and fostering in order to clear out the kennels.

Some people think animals can contract or even spread COVID-19, but the Centers for Disease Control confirmed that’s not true.

It’s been recently reported that shelters in New York and Los Angeles have been emptied out.
