Dogs are incredibly clever creatures. If you don’t believe us, these two dogs who called 911 may change your mind.

When police officers in Lakeville, Minnesota received several calls from the same phone number, all they could hear was dog barking. They thought something was wrong. Although the officers couldn’t hear a person during the phone calls, they decided to go to the house to check it.

When officer Michelle Roberts and her partner arrived at the house, they couldn’t find anything unusual. They didn’t know what to expect. When she knocked on the door, nobody answered. The officers could only hear the dogs barking in the background.

Roberts managed to get in touch with the owners of the home and told them that somebody had dialed 911 sixteen times in a span of 30 minutes.

While the owners were at work, the dogs were home alone. The dogs’ dad forgot his cell phone in his home office. Clearly, the phone was locked and set to ’emergency calls only’. So, the dogs decided to play with the phone, instead of their toys. While playing with the phone, they accidentally called the police 16 times.

When the officers went into the house, they found the two dogs jumping around the phone. They didn’t leave immediately. Instead, they checked if the dogs needed to go out and potty. This unusual situation made them laugh.

One of the officers joked that since the dogs were having a tough day, they decided to seek help from the police. No charges were pressed, but they may have been let off with a few pets and belly rubs.

Now, the dad has a funny story to tell family, friends, and neighbors. And the police officers will definitely never forget this unusual “emergency”. At least, their night was fun more than they thought.
