A Boston terrier puppy was found on a farm in Lancaster, Pennsylvania with almost no life left in him. The malnourished. Dehydrated. Life and death fought within him. Janine Guido, the founder of Speranza Animal Rescue, found the little Libre.

She took him to the vet as soon as possible. When Dr. Ivan Pryor at Dillsburg Veterinary Center

The doctor said that she had not had such a difficult case in her long career. His chances didn’t really exist and that it would take a real miracle for this puppy to survive. For several weeks, Libre’s health was critical.

Since spending the most critical night in the hospital, Libre began to recover. First, the steps in his progress were barely visible, and then increasingly noticeable. This puppy rescued by this woman was so malnourished that his body weight was half that of a puppy his age.

Throughout his body, Libre had a severe form of itch, which caused him a severe infection. Worst of all, the worms loved him all over the body. There is a suspicion that it has been abused by the breeder, but unfortunately, it cannot be proven for now.

After a couple of weeks, slowly but surely Libre began to feel better.

The Pennsylvania senator was inspired by this story, so he suggested changing the law on animal cruelty. Senator Richard Alloway drafted “Libre’s Law”, which aims to reclassify animal neglect, extreme neglect, and abuse as a felony in Pennsylvania.
