A poor dog was dumped in a parking lot in freezing rain, left waiting for his owners to come back and save him.

Life is not always easy for the animals who live on the streets. While some animals manage to find scraps of food and shelter, others are not so lucky.

After all, dogs are domesticated animals and they are not really built to live on the streets. In order to survive, dogs need humans. Sadly, not many people are willing to step in and help homeless animals. However, a woman in North Carolina is hoping to change all that.

Unfortunately, not every dog receives the love and attention that it deserves. Most dogs need human intervention in order to survive.

Meet Valinda Cortez from Canton, North Carolina. She is a big-time animal lover and often helps stray dogs.

One rainy day when Cortez saw a dog shivering on a Walmart parking lot, she immediately wanted to intervene. Although the dog was nervous, she didn’t run away from the woman. Cortez was deeply saddened by what she saw next…

The dog was wet, had an eye infection and one of her legs was cut. Cortez realized that this was no stray or feral dog, but actually abandoned.

She put a blanket over the dog to protect her from the rain and keep her warm. She also fed the dog, hoping it would restore her faith in humans.

Cortez stayed by the dog’s side for the next hour to gain her trust. Then, she called Sue Massi who works as an animal rescue volunteer. Since the dog’s owner wasn’t planning to return, Sue suggested Cortez contact an animal control officer.

The officer decided that treating the dog’s injuries is a priority. Carefully, they lured the dog into their car so they could bring her to a shelter.

The dog, now named Cassie, received proper treatment and lots of love. After a few days, Cassie was doing so much better.

Now, Cassie has new owners and she is living a happy life in her new home. Unfortunately, she’s not the only dog who has been mistreated or abandoned.

Meet Griffey who was in the same situation as Cassie. Griffey’s owner, Karen, wasn’t even looking for a dog when she saw the little furry animal. She was walking through the local park when she noticed an adoption event.

Griffey was a stray dog who has been living inside a dumpster. His rescuers couldn’t believe that anyone would abandon such a sweet dog.

When Karen saw Griffey, she immediately fell in love. Although she didn’t plan on adopting any pets that day, all it took was one phone call to her husband, Keith, for the go-ahead.

However, Griffey couldn’t adjust to his new home right away. Although he loved Karen, he was nervous around Keith.

However, Griffey couldn’t adjust to his new home right away. Although he adored Karen, he was scared of Keith, so he acted out by barking and nipping at him.

Fortunately, Keith was understanding and patient. He was aware that Griffey probably was mistreated by numerous people. It didn’t take much time for Keith to grow on Griffey and they became best friends!

Numerous dogs and other animals need rescuing that it can be overwhelming to consider. If you want to make a real change, all you need to do is adopt just one animal.

It’s really bad to see a dog dumped in rain, they need just a little love of us and they give us their heart.
