When a pet runs away or somehow gets lost, pet owners are devastated. They would do anything in order to get their pets back. Although not many people are reunited with their beloved friends, some of them are lucky enough to find them.

After months of searching, truck driver Matthew B. started crying after he was reunited with his beloved 3-year-old cat named Ashes. His cat was always on the road with him. The two of them share an incredible connection traveling together around the country, in Matthew’s truck.

Ashes was always by Matthew’s side and didn’t leave his side until last July when they were traveling through Springfield, Ohio. Somehow Ashes got out of the truck while it was parked. The cat got scared and went to hide in the bushes.

Matthew couldn’t find his beloved partner and he was devastated. He searched through the area, but with no luck. Although he had to get back on the road, he knew he had to get back soon.

In the next few months, he reorganized few routes so he could go back to the area where he lost Ashes. He was hoping he would find his beloved partner, but he had no luck.

This month, one woman named Kimberly and her friend stopped at the same place where Matthew lost his cat. They were headed to New York. Before she got back into her vehicle, a hungry cat appeared from the bush and caught her attention. She couldn’t leave the poor cat on the street, so she decided to take him with her.

When she arrived at her destination, Kimberly took the kitty to a vet. She contacted Lollypop Farm, an animal welfare organization in Fairport, New York, and the shelter was more than happy to take him in. The admissions team scanned the kitten for a microchip and luckily, they found out that he was registered him under a Texas address that was over 1,465 miles away!

Kimberly actually found Ashes, Matthew’s cat. The Lollypop Farm immediately contacted him and he picked up. When he received the good news, he couldn’t believe it! Although he was in Arkansas when he received the call, he changed his route and headed to New York.

When Matthew arrived in New York, the gray cat instantly recognized his human. Matthew started crying from happiness!

If Ashes didn’t have a microchip, he wouldn’t have been reunited with his human. This is the main reason why you should microchip your pet!
