A vet called Ernie Ward decided to spend a night in a freezing dog house to prove to people who are convinved that the dog house conditions and a blanket or two are not enough to warm up dogs that are outside of our homes during wintertime.

Winter is the coldest time of year for everyone, including pets. Our pets can also feel the cold and that is why it is so important to be well informed on the effects of the cold.

Ernie Ward, a veterinarian, decided to promote safe living conditions for dogs, especially during wintertime.

Many people believe that doghouses and blankets are enough to keep dogs warm. However, Ward is frustrated with those people. So, he decided to campaign and prove his point that dogs can be cold too.

He said he will camp inside a dog house while filming his experience.

Ward prepared for his stay. He was wearing heavy winter clothing, but that is something that dogs don’t have. Even with his added layers, Ward only managed to sit just 4 hours inside the dog house.

In the video, you can see how the temperatures continued to drop every hour. It’s obvious that Ward is traumatized by the experience.

He was shivering uncontrollably and quickly went numb. By the end of the 4 hours, the temperature had gone down to 15F and he couldn’t stay in the doghouse any longer.

Ward previously thought that doghouses and blankets aren’t enough for dogs. His experience even made him stand firmer in his belief that all pets should be staying indoors during wintertime. No animal should suffer out in the cold.

He also urged people to always report homeless animals to the authorities so they can be rescued and taken to a shelter where they will get food and warm beds.

Please share this with your friends so we can also spread the awareness to bring pets in from the cold.
